St Nicholas' Church

St Nicholas Church dates back to before 1066, the Norman Conquest and the subsequent creation of the New Forest. The church has close associations with both World Wars and in the entrance porch you will find an attractive timber roll of honour commemorating those who were lost 1914 -18 and 1939 – 45 conflicts. The porch also contains an engaging illustrated display ‘1939 – 1945 Some of Brockenhurst’s Losses’.To the rear of the church, you will find the Commonwealth War Graves Commission memorial and cemetery. The well-kept site contains 106 graves from the First World War, mainly soldiers from New Zealand who died of their wound at the Brockenhurst No.1 New Zealand General Hospital.
