Military Vehicle Storage

As D-Day approached the build-up of military vehicles was so great that additional parking spaces were created for army jeeps, trucks and light tanks along Sway Road and side streets. Military Police patrolled the area and restricted movements for authorised vehicles only. Villages went to bed on the night of June 4th only to awake to empty streets and roads. All the soldiers and their vehicles had departed during the night as they set off for debarkation to Normandy.
